Press Release #7 – January 2023

RETROFEED signed collaboration agreement with INITIATE

11th January 2023, Brussels – RETROFEED project is pleased to announce its new collaboration with the H2020 Project INITIATE (GA 958318), with the aim to foster common synergies and goals between the two projects.

INITIATE aims to advance the implementation of circular economy, industrial symbiosis, and carbon capture and utilisation technologies (CCU) by re-using residual steel gases as a resource for the cross-sectorial, more efficient, and less wasteful manufacture of urea, at a significantly reduced carbon footprint.

RETROFEED main objective is to enable the use of an increasingly variable, bio-based and circular feedstock in process industries through the retrofitting of core equipment and the implementation of an advanced monitoring and control system.

Together, RETROFEED and INITIATE hope to increase the visibility of the technical solutions developed under both projects to support decarbonisation of Energy Intensive Industries in Europe and beyond towards net-zero by 2050.
